Mini Sponch Cookie Pattern

Crochet plush inspired by delicious cookie Sponch.

Materials Needed

  • Weight 4 yarn (pink, white, tan, red, black)
  • 5.0 mm hook
  • Fiberfill
  • Tapestry needle
  • 8mm plastic safety eyes

Cookie Base

  1. With the tan colored yarn, do the following:
  2. Round 1: Begin with 4 Sc in a magic ring (4)
  3. Round 2: (3 Sc into next stitch) X 4 (12)
  4. Round 3: 1 Sc, (3 Sc into next stitch, 2 Sc) X 3, 3 Sc into next stitch, 1 Sc (20)
  5. Round 4: 2 Sc, (3 Sc into next stitch, 4 Sc) X 3, 3 Sc into next stitch, 2 Sc (28)
  6. Round 5: 3 Sc, (3 Sc into next stitch, 6 Sc) X 3, 3 Sc into next stitch, 3 Sc (36)
  7. Round 6: 4 Sc, (3 Sc into next stitch, 8 Sc) X 3, 3 Sc into next stitch, 4 Sc (44)
  8. Round 7: 5 Sc, (3 Sc into next stitch, 10 Sc) X 3, 3 Sc into next stitch, 5 Sc (52)
  9. Round 8: 6 Sc, (3 Sc into next stitch, 12 Sc) X 3, 3 Sc into next stitch, 6 Sc (60)

  15. Round 14: 6 Sc, (Sc3tog, 12 Sc) X 3, Sc3tog, 6 Sc (52)
  16. Round 15: 5 Sc, (Sc3tog, 10 Sc) X 3, Sc3tog, 5 Sc (44)

  21. Stuff lightly.

  23. Sew closed then finish off.

Marshamallows

  1. With the pink and white colored yarn, do the following 2 times for each color (4 total):
  2. Round 1: Begin with 8 Sc in a magic ring (8)
  3. Round 2: (INC) X 8 (16)
  4. Round 3: (1 Sc, INC) X 8 (24)
  5. Rounds 4-7: Sc in each stitch for the whole round (24)
  6. Round 8: (1 Sc, INVDEC) X 8 (16)
  7. Slst into first stitch, ch 1, pull yarn through chain, leave a tail for sewing.
  8. Stuff each marshmallow.

Straberry Center

  1. With the red colored yarn, do the following:
  2. Round 1: Begin with 6 Sc in a magic ring (6)
  3. Round 2: (INC) X 6 (12)
  4. Round 3: (1 Sc, INC) X 8 (24)
  5. Rounds 4-6: 18 Sc (18)
  6. Round 7: (1 Sc, INVDEC) X 6 (12)
  7. Slst into first stitch, ch 1, pull yarn through chain, leave a tail for sewing.
  8. Attach safety eyes and stuff lightly.

Assembly

  1. Sew the marshmallows onto the bottom the cookie (the ugly side) and stay within the 2 outer rows (following the BLO round)
  2. Count 6 rows from the top of each marshmallow. In between the 6th-7th row thread a piece of yarn through only one stitch in each marshmallow.
  3. Tie this yarn to make a knot. All the marshmallows should now meet tightly in the center.
  4. Cut the yarn short.
  5. Sew the strawberry onto the center (on top of the knot we just made). Try to set just outside the second round from the newly created center of each of the marshmallows.
  6. Using a scrap of black yarn, sew a mouth onto the strawberry center.
